Ultimate Burnout Challenge Avalon 2009
After a long drive, 3 days, 48 hours, 3752km one way and a sore arse (from driving) we turned up to Avalon Speedway to get Scud to compete at the Ultimate Burnout Challenge.
Saturday started very wet but cleared up by lunchtime. We got to meet a lot of the drivers and cars and were warmly welcomed.
The show was awesome with the usual carnage of motors, fires and tyres exploding. As for the burnout, not one of my best. Mud on the front tyres made it hard to steer, especially off the start, and I wasn’t confident in throwing it around as I couldn’t see all of the pad due to low lighting. I heard later that this affected a few people with small front runners.
Scud ended up with best presented, and the Scud got 1min 30 seconds on the pad before catching fire. After looking later it was found that one of the burst panel boltshad rattled loose on the trip down.
View the burnout and see Scud and some of the competitors at this years event.
Scud is keen to do it again next year, and hoping to be travelling down through South Australia around the 17th of October and be able to stop in at Gazzanats, and many more shows after that.
